Chancery Court judges handle some of the most important and personal legal matters in our community, including family law cases such as divorce, child custody, support, and alimony, as well as adoptions, estates, guardianships, and property disputes. They also preside over mental health commitments and, in some cases, juvenile matters. These elected officials handle complex civil matters rather than criminal cases. Act Justly: Chancery courts must be, above all, fair, just and faithful to the law.
Love with Mercy: Judges often deal with people in their most vulnerable moments. Justice should be coupled respect and compassion for all parties.
Walk Humbly: This is a reminder that any authority Judge might have is a stewardship granted by God and is never for personal gain or pride.

In 2024, Michael and Rebecca blended their families which includes four young adults. Each of their children has chosen a path of service, Madelon, Mary Rose, and Owen in education, and Carter in seminary. Michael is running for Chancery Court Judge to serve this community with fairness, compassion, and unwavering integrity to protect the values that make Rankin County such a special place to call home.

First, the rule of law is paramount. A judge’s duty is not to legislate from the bench or impose personal preferences, but to faithfully interpret and apply the law as written. This includes adhering to precedents, respecting procedural rules, and ensuring that decisions are grounded in the facts. Consistency in rulings promote confidence in the legal system and ensure that similar cases are treated alike.
Second, fairness must guide how the law is applied. Every litigant, regardless of background, resources, or representation, deserves a full and fair opportunity to be heard. This means maintaining impartiality, managing the courtroom with integrity, and ensuring that proceedings are conducted efficiently and without bias. A fair judge listens carefully, considers all arguments, and renders decisions based solely on the merits of the case.
Third, a strong judicial philosophy recognizes that courts do not operate in a vacuum. A judge serves a specific community and should be mindful of its values, challenges, and needs, without compromising impartiality. This includes being accessible, respectful, and attentive to the real-world impact of judicial decisions. Treating parties, attorneys, and witnesses with dignity fosters trust in the judicial process, even when outcomes are difficult or contested.
Finally, respect is central to the role of judge. Litigants often come before the court during the most challenging moments of their lives. We must demand that a Chancery Court Judge be patient, prepared, and courteous. Michael Wolf embodies these core values. By combining legal rigor with humanity and an awareness of the community being served, Michael represents a judicial philosophy that reflects both strength in the law and respect for the people it governs.
